One Nation, Under God

Whitewater News & Opinion for September 30, 2020

Are you registered to vote? I, like many people around the country, vote by absentee ballot.

Congratulations to the Whitewater Penguins-North Country Mavericks teams in volleyball and cross country. They are Hannah and Ava Hanley, and Kelsey and Kendra Cummings. Good luck to all athletes!

There will be the Ryan Olson Memorial Darts Tournament here in Whitewater on October 9, which is a tentative date. There will be a silent auction and dinner, too. Donated items for the auction are welcome.

We heard that Whitewater’s little Rayn “Gray” Simanton is a horse whisperer. They have a colt that allows Gray to lay down by it the horse and even put her head on the colt’s head. Wow! Gray is a real, little cowgirl.

In Malta last Tuesday, I met up with old classmates and friends Alfreda Allery and Esther Brosseaufsou from Hinsdale. They came up on the transit bus to both shop and visit. Alfreda went to school in Whitewater. She is an artist and drew pictures for my book, “Hills Beyond Whitewater Creek Bridge.” It was good to see them both. Alfreda’s husband resides at the Hi-Line Retirement Center. Get well to you, Gary White.

If you have news or anything interesting to tell for the Phillips County News, call me at 674-5576, and let it ring, or write to me. I want to hear from everyone, so get busy.

Lu Besel spent the weekend in Landusky at Dan Williams ranch. Carol Williams is her sister so a big hello to them.

The Triangle Communications crew are still in the rural areas of Whitewater and they are very busy.

Today, the weather is beautiful. No wind, sunny, and a clear sky. We had a nice rain recently. Sadly, though, yesterday was the last day of Summer.

Thought for the week: Do unto others as they should have do unto you.

As always,

Helen A.
