Clarabel Score

On the morning of September 21, 2020 Clarabel Score, 87, passed away at the Phillips County Hospital in Malta, Montana surrounded by her family. Family will receive friends from 6:30 ~ 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 8, 2020 at the Little White Church in Malta, Montana. A memorial service will be held Friday, October 9, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in Malta, Montana at the Little White Church. Burial will be at the Malta Cemetery with a luncheon to follow.

Clarabel was born to Charles Lewis and Clara Barton Henry in Malta, Montana on November 30, 1932. She grew up in Malta and graduated from the Malta school system.

After graduation Clarabel worked as a switchboard operator for the phone company. She later became a top saleslady for Avon. As her family grew she taught Sunday school, coached kids bowling, and was involved in 4H. She enjoyed camping and hunting around Zortman and the Larb Hills. Fishing, boating, and swimming at the cabin on Nelson Reservoir was also a favorite time. Clarabel was an avid bowler and attended many state tournaments.

Clarabel lived in many houses and made all of them a home for her family. She was an excellent cook and baker and loved to host family holidays. There was always a crowd around the table and throughout the house. When company showed up to visit, she could drink anyone under the table... if it was a cup of coffee.

Clarabel made gingerbread houses with Pete every year at Christmas time, for the grandchildren to decorate with candy and icing. This tradition continued for over 20 years. She enjoyed following all the grandchildren's activities and was proud of their accomplishments.

Clarabel met Pete Score, and they married November 23, 1952 at the Little White Church. Together they had five children; Peter Donald & (Mary Ann) Score of Wibaux, MT; Pam Lynn; Pat & (Barb) Score; Paula & (Dennis) Ost; Paul "Rusty" & (Marie) Score; all from Malta, MT. Surviving Clarabel are her children, 16 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren, sister Alice Hanson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Clarabel was preceded in death by her husband, mother and father, her sisters and brothers-in-law Doris & Ed Potter; Marlette & Roy Baeth; Margaret & Wes Anderson; brother Donald Henry; brother-in-law Jerry Hanson; son-in-law Donnie Lynn; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Don & Ethyl Score from Costa Mesa, CA; Elva & Ed Larson from Havre; and one grandson, Chris Hoiland.
