PCSO announces sexual assault investigation after social media post

Following a widely shared social media post bringing up sexual assault allegations concerning a male, Malta resident and underage girls, the Phillips County Sheriff’s Office has initiated an investigation into the claims.

“On Monday, September 21, 2020, Sheriff Jerry Lytle received information about a post that had been shared on Facebook regarding a series of sexual assaults that had occurred many years ago in Phillips County,” the sheriff’s office told the PCN. Sheriff Lytle has initiated an investigation into the post to determine its' validity. Because of the complexity of the situation, Lytle decided to engage the Montana Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation to assist in the investigation”.

Sheriff Lytle also urged local citizens to allow the department to handle the case as the system is designed to, and that he has confidence that a thorough investigation will proceed quickly.
