One Nation, Under God
Sporting fresh war wounds and a shirt that read "I was normal three cats ago," Raelynn Robinson reports that eight additional cats have been neutered and vaccinated thanks to the efforts of Malta's newest 401(c) 3.
Malta Trap, Neuter, and Return, (MTNR) led by Robinson, along with Shannan Clark Fried, Vanessa Mann, Kate Cleveland, and David Rummel has been hard at work to keep Malta's stray and feral cat population under control. The biggest need they have right now is funding to buy or rent a shed or small building to house the animals as they come in. As such, Robinson asks that citizens not trap animals on their own, as there is simply no space yet to hold them. While they do have a litter of kittens up for at adoption at this time (for a small $30 fee), Robinson stresses that until they can work out the space issue their ability to assist with owner surrenders is severely limited.
Currently, the only expense that is covered is the group's gas money, and members are covering the rest out of pocket. Donations are much needed and appreciated. In addition to monetary or building donations, pet carriers, kennels, traps, food, litter, and bedding are welcomed. The group is researching grants and fundraising activities and is open to any ideas or assistance to that end. Monetary donations can be made at Independence Bank or through the group's Facebook page, and physical items may be donated by calling Kate at (406) 301-1611. For donation receipts, please contact Shannan at 654-1978.
