4-H and FFA Carcass Results from the 2020 PC Fair

The carcass results from the 2020 4-H and FFA livestock show at the Phillips County Fair are complete. Carcass results are eligible to be submitted to the Steer of Merit program, sponsored by the Montana Stockgrowers; Symbol of Excellence program, sponsored by the Montana Pork Producers Council; and Montana Certified Lamb program, sponsored by the Montana Wool Growers.

For meeting individual carcass requirements, youth winners and the breeders of their animals receive a certificate from the sponsoring livestock organizations, and 4-H trophies for first (Grand) and second (Reserve) place exhibitors in each species.

There were two steers out of 35 that qualified for Steer of Merit. The Grand Champion Market Beef Carcass was presented to Spencer Gibbs. His trophy sponsor was Veseth Cattle. Spencer's beef breeder was Double O Ranch. The Reserve Champion Carcass was awarded to Shelbi LaBrie with the trophy sponsored by Doucette Ranch. Shelbi's beef breeder was Kris LaBrie.

There was one market lamb that qualified for Montana Certified Lamb. The Grand Champion Market Lamb Carcass belonged to Sadie Lamoreau with the trophy being sponsored by First State Bank. Sadie's lamb breeder was Jeanie Green. Reserve Champion Market Lamb Carcass trophy was awarded to Jayda Wyse and the trophy sponsor was Ezzie's Wholesale. Jayda's lamb breeder was Jeanie Green.

Twelve swine qualified for the Symbol of Excellence swine carcass awards out of 43. The Grand Champion Market Swine Carcass was awarded to Jessa Erickson with her trophy sponsor being Hardware Hank of Malta. The swine breeder was Camrose Colony. The Reserve Champion Market Swine Carcass trophy was awarded to Duke Williamson and the trophy was sponsored by Scout Energy. The swine breeder was Camrose Colony. Other SOE certificate winners were; Jaydyn Erickson, Tyler Arnold, Rhiaunna Erickson, Kayla Ottinger, Kenzie LaBrie, Hadley Hammond, Tant Anderson, Hoyt Mahan, Dawson Hammond, and Charli Carnahan. Jessa Erickson is the recipient of the Grand Champion Overall Pork Award sponsored by Tri-County Farmers Mutual Insurance Co.
