2020 Fair Crash for Cash

After being runner-up in the past two Demolition Derby events held at the fairgrounds, Glasgow's Chris Moore won the 2020 Phillips County Fair Crash for Cash for the first time.

"It was great," Moore said. "It was a good time and there were some tough cars. I am glad that they stepped up and kept this event going."

In all, the Crash for Cash featured 19 cars. Moore, who drove a 1975 Oldsmobile, has been participating in Demo Derby events for 15 years and edged out Skylar Powell who was the last driver to time out. Casten Hepner was third, four-time PC Fair Champion Garrett Powell was fourth, Johnny Austin was fifth, and Garrison Mitchell was sixth.

The Chain Car Event was won by Payton Peterson. Frankie Nieft was second. Mike Plouffe took third and G. Powell was fourth.

After the event, the PCN caught up with Crash for Cash President Scot Skoyen. Skoyen shared his thoughts on the event after it's conclusion.

"I think it went great and I wish more would just do it and not be scared," Skoyen said referring to Fair cancellations across the state of Montana.

For Skoyen and his crew, the PC Fair has been the only fair they have been able to perform at.

"(COVID-19) is coming and it's going to happen no matter what," Skoyen said.

Skoyen was encouraged by the crowd size, mentioning that there was a nice crowd coinciding the pandemic. Skoyen expressed pride in the competitors that night, including Moore, who became a PC Fair champion for the first time.

"Chris Moore has been driving for a long time and finally got his win," Skoyen said.

Being a co-event with the Dodson AMX races provided a new wrinkle in the Crash for Cash event, one that proved to be beneficial for both events.

"Running alongside the AMX Races gave everybody time to work on their cars and it worked out way better than I anticipated," Skoyen said.

Skoyen expressed interest in working with AMX Racing in future PC Fair events.
