Over the period of July 17 through July 23 the Phillips County Sheriff's Office responded to a total of 85 calls for service in the following locations: City of Dodson - 6; County - 14; City of Malta - 54; City of Saco - 7; City of Wagner - 1; City of Zortman - 3.

July 5, 2020

10:38 a.m. Reserve Deputy performed building security checks on a Saco business with a door partially open; all found to be okay.

12:24 p.m. Female reported a stolen vehicle from the Lodgepole area and wanted us to be aware of it; caller had already reported it to Ft Belknap LE.

2:24 p.m. 24/7 Life Protect requested medical assistance for an unresponsive medical alert; local EMT Crew responded to the call; patient located and was okay.

3:20 p.m. PC Hospital requested an ambulance for a flight crew pick up from the airport, transport to the hospital and back to the airport with their patient; local EMT Crew handled the call.

10:19 p.m. Female reported individuals lighting fireworks in a residential area; Deputy responded to the call; individuals located and advised to shut it down.

10:31 p.m. Male reported a possible DUI headed from Nelson Reservoir to St Marie; information passed onto Valley Co SO.

10:38 p.m. Female reported two individuals “yelling at each other in the street”; Deputies responded to the call; male left the located and stayed at another residence for the night; case file started.

11:03 p.m. Male reported “kids shooting fireworks at his horses”; Deputy responded to the call; juveniles located and situation taken care of.

11:04 p.m. Male reported smelling smoke in the downtown area; Deputy responded to the call; no smoke or smell of smoke located.

July 6, 2020

2:40 a.m. Deputy assisted Valley Co SO with an unreported vehicle/pedestrian accident that had occurred on July 4, near Ft Peck.

6:27 a.m. Male filed a complaint regarding an emergency responder’s driving behavior while responding to the Firehall/Ambulance barn; Undersheriff handled the call.

10:03 a.m. Female reported a dog pulling a chain in a residential area; information passed onto ACO.

3:25 p.m. Significant Weather Advisory for east central Phillips Co until 415pm; penny sized hail and 40mph gusts are possible.

5:44 p.m. Blaine Co SO requested PCSO assistance with a suspect who possibly fled to Phillips Co; Deputy responded to the call; suspect later located in Chinook and was taken into custody.

5:55 p.m. Significant Weather Advisory for southwestern Phillips Co until 645pm; nickel sized hail and 40mph gusts are possible.

5:59 p.m. Severe Thunderstorm Warning for southwestern Phillips Co until 7pm; quarter sized hail and 60mph gusts are possible.

9:40 p.m. Female reported a box on fire alongside of Hwy 2, east of Malta; Deputy responded to the call; caller advised she had gotten the fire put out; Deputy removed that box and a second one he found as well.

July 7, 2020

6:57 a.m. Local business reported two dogs running loose in the downtown area; information passed onto ACO.

6:59 a.m. Male reported two dogs attacking a male walking in the caller’s neighborhood; Sheriff and ACO responded to the call; no one located in the area that had been attacked and the suspected dogs were in a fenced yard.

3:07 p.m. Local business reported theft of property; Sheriff responded to the call; case file started.

3:08 p.m. Female reported a grass fire southwest of Landusky; Landusky and BLM Fire Depts responded to the call; fire later controlled and extinguished.

3:20 p.m. Male reported a possible fire south of Dodson; Deputy responded to the call; found to be the Dodson Dump and it was just smoldering.

3:47 p.m. Severe Thunderstorm Warning for southern Phillips Co until 530pm; half dollar sized hail and 60mph gusts are possible.

4:07 p.m. Male reported a vehicle passing and speeding in the construction zone; Undersheriff responded to the call; vehicle not located.

4:33 p.m. Severe Thunderstorm Warning for central Phillips Co until 445pm; half dollar sized hail and 70mph gusts are possible.

4:42 p.m. 911s received reporting a motorhome had blown over on Hwy 2, near the Wagner turnoff; Sheriff, Deputy, local EMT Crew, Fire Dept responded to the call; MHP Trooper handled the crash; one patient transported to the PC Hospital.

4:45 p.m. 911 received reporting a tornado was spotted south of Dodson moving northeast; information passed onto Deputies and Glasgow Weather Service.

4:46 p.m. Severe Thunderstorm Warning for southeastern Phillips Co until 545pm; half dollar sized hail and 70mph gusts are possible.

4:47 p.m. Female reported a power line down across Hwy 2, west of Malta; Big Flat Electric handled the call.

4:51 p.m. KMMR advised of the Severe Storm west of Malta and to advise people to seek shelter immediately.

4:53 p.m. Tornado Warning for east central Phillips Co until 530pm; quarter sized hail and a tornado are possible.

4:57 p.m. 911 received reporting a tree blew over and caused a structure fire at a local residence; local FD, Ambulance and NorthWestern Energy responded to the call; no fire located.

5:08 p.m. Deputy reported an overturned 5th wheel trailer on Hwy 2, near overpass; Sheriff handled crash.

5:12 p.m. Severe Thunderstorm Warning for northeastern Phillips Co until 615pm; half dollar sized hail and 90mph gusts are possible.

5:13 p.m. Sheriff closed Hwy 2, west of Malta, due to multiple overturned campers and downed power lines on Hwy 2.

5:25 p.m. Severe Thunderstorm Warning for southeastern Phillips Co until 630pm; quarter sized hail and 85mph gusts are possible.

5:39 p.m. Sheriff requested an out of town towing company for the motorhome and 5th wheel trailer accidents.

5:44 p.m. Lake Wind Advisory remains in effect until 10pm.

6:10 p.m. Hwy 2 reopened to through traffic.

7:32 p.m. Severe Thunderstorm Watch is canceled for 4 counties, to include Phillips Co.

8:42 p.m. Male reported a suspicious vehicle in the area of the pool; Deputy responded to the call; no suspicious vehicles located.

8:55 p.m. Lake Wind Advisory is canceled.

11:20 p.m. Roadside Assist requested a welfare check on a driver stuck on Kid Curry Road; Deputy responded to the call; found several vehicles stuck and several assisting with getting them all unstuck; driver found to be okay.

July 8, 2020

2:21 a.m. Lake Wind Advisory in effect from 9am-midnight tonight.

10:58 a.m. 911 received reporting a grass fire off of the Regina Road in south Phillips Co; Malta FD responded to the call; fire later controlled and extinguished.

2:53 p.m. Female reported kids playing behind the Old Hospital; Deputy responded to the call; no one located in the area.

5:01 p.m. Male reported another male lying under some trees off of Central Ave and it seemed suspicious; Deputy responded to the call; caller later reported the male was up walking north; Deputy did not locate any suspicious males along Central.

5:56 p.m. Male reported juveniles riding bicycles in the skate park bowl; Deputy responded to the call; juveniles had left the area on their own accord.

8:22 p.m. PC Hospital requested an ambulance for a flight crew pick up from the airport, transport to the hospital and back to the airport with their patient; local EMT Crew handled the call.

9:12 p.m. Male requested a welfare check on family friends they had not heard from in a couple of days; Deputies responded to the call; individuals located, were okay, just out of power and no phone service; information passed onto the caller.

11:18 p.m. Deputies performed building security checks in the Malta area.

July 9, 2020

12:07 a.m. Female reported a suspicious noise from a vehicle driving by her residence on Hwy 363; thought maybe it had crashed; Deputy responded to the call; no accidents located anywhere on Hwy 363.

12:12 a.m. Lake Wind Advisory has expired.

8:22 a.m. 911 received reporting a one vehicle accident on Fourchette Bay Road; no injuries to the occupants; Undersheriff and BLM Ranger responded to the call; case file started.

8:58 a.m. Undersheriff requested a tow truck for the above accident; local towing company responded to the call.

8:58 a.m. Male reported damage to a gas company’s property; Deputy responded to the call; case file started.

12:26 p.m. Male reported a suspicious male and suspicious activity near a cabin at the State Park; Deputies responded to the call; all found to be okay, just an individual doing surveys in the area.

1:39 p.m. Female reported a possible burglary; Deputy responded to the call; case file started.

5:11 p.m. Female reported a power pole on fire near a structure on the east side of Malta; Malta FD and EMT Crew responded to the call; NorthWestern Energy employee also responded to the call; fire later controlled and extinguished.

July 10, 2020

7:36 a.m. Malta City employee requested law enforcement assistance with individuals “squatting” in Trafton Park; Deputy handled the call.

9:18 a.m. Local business requested a welfare check on an individual staying in a camper on the business’ property; Deputy responded to the call; individual advised they would be moving on the following day.

9:23 a.m. 911 received requesting an ambulance for the caller; local EMT Crew responded to the call; patient transported to the PC Hospital.

10:02 a.m. Deputy performed building security checks in the Saco area.

2:41 p.m. Lake Wind Advisory in effect until 6pm tonight.

4:50 p.m. Female reported missing property from her vehicle; Deputy responded to the call; caller later reported the property had been located.

5:24 p.m. Male reported receiving threats from a family member; Sheriff responded to the call; case file started.

6:20 p.m. Female reported another female was violating her probation; Deputy responded to the call; case file started.

6:26 p.m. Lake Wind Advisory has expired.

9:49 p.m. Sheriff performed building security checks in the Saco area.

10:36 p.m. Sheriff performed building security checks in the Whitewater area.

July 11, 2020

12:58 a.m. Female reported a juvenile snuck out and was wandering around Malta; Deputy responded to the call; juvenile not located.

1:13 a.m. Deputy received a report of a fight occurring in front of a local tavern; Sheriff also responded to the call; case file started.

1:27 a.m. Deputy transported one adult male, Victor Lefdahl, to PCSO to be incarcerated in PCSO Jail on Disorderly Conduct charges; male later transported to his residence after receiving a Notice to Appear.

3:18 a.m. Deputy performed a traffic stop which led to one adult male, Kaden Bergos, being transported to PCSO to be incarcerated in PCSO Jail on DUI charges; Sheriff called out to assist, case file started.

10:32 a.m. 911 received requesting an ambulance for a possible hip injury; local EMT Crew responded to the call; patient transported to the PC Hospital.

12:41 p.m. Local Ambulance reported to the Trafton Park Arena for the rodeo coverage.

1:11 p.m. PC Hospital requested an ambulance for a flight crew pick up from the airport, transport to the hospital and back to the airport with their patient; local EMT Crew handled the call.

1:27 p.m. Female reported theft of property from a vehicle; Deputy responded to the call; case file started.

4:22 p.m. 911 received reporting a family member had passed away at a Saco residence; Deputies responded to the call; coroner case file started.

7:02 p.m. Big Flat Electric reported to a power outage south of Malta.

8:44 p.m. Stanley Security reported a commercial burglar alarm sounding at a local business; Deputies and business employee responded to the call; all found to be okay and the alarm reset.

8:51 p.m. Female reported suspicious activity at a neighbor’s residence and there should be no one there; Deputy responded to the call; no one located in the area; more patrol occurred in the area.

11:11 p.m. Female reported fireworks going off in her neighborhood; Deputy responded to the call; no one located in the reported area.
