R.J. is the son of Deserae Kill Eagle and Kenneth Blaine "Rocky" Lewis Jr. of Dodson, Mont. He joins sisters Kataya Kill Eagle-Flansburg and Jazlyn Flansburg at home.

R.J.'s maternal grandparents are Iris and Wesley Kill Eagle Sr., of Dodson, and his paternal grandparents are Kenneth Blaine Lewis and Sandra Lewis.
