One Nation, Under God
Donald Dale Scheele, 89 went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 11th, 2020.
Born January 5th, 1931 to William (Bill) and Minnie Scheele on the family homestead just north of Saco. Don attended Saco schools all 12 years excelling in sports, basketball being his favorite. The Missoula Grizzlies recruited him to play football for them for one year. Don went on to proudly serve his country for four years in the Air Force where he again was able to play basketball and boxed before leaving and attending college in Wyoming becoming a well-known athlete throughout Montana and Wyoming.
After college Don went to Glasgow and became a police officer where he met the love of his life, Edith Frieberg, where they joined hearts on February 24th, 1960. Later they moved to Wolf Point where he was asked to become the chief of police. He was always available to go back to the family homestead and help out when he could, Don eventually moved back on the farm and later went to work for the Saco School District for many years as transportation supervisor and bus driver for over 25 years. It always puts a big smile on Don's face when one of the kids, grandkids, or one of his many friends would walk through the door as he sat in his big chair and waved.
Don loved fishing and hunting and spent many years at Nelson reservoir and Missouri breaks enjoying the outdoors with his family and friends. He always seemed to be at the right place at the right time to help somebody out.
Don is survived by his four children, daughters Leora (Craig) Robinson, Cindy (Wade) Riden and sons Greg Scheele, Rick (Mary Ann) Scheele. Grandpa Don had 59 grand-children, and many nieces and nephews.
