Women's Golf League

Art's Furniture and Tin Cup tied for First Place

The Women's Golf League kicked off a couple of weeks ago at the Marian Hills Golf Course.

The league held their second week on Wednesday, June 3, and after two weeks Team Art's Furniture and Team Tin Cup are tied for first place with a total of 41.50.

The PCN caught up with Sascha (Cole) Lulloff of Team Bishop Building, who currently leads all golfers in individual standings with a total of 9.50 points.

"I got par on the first hole and a bogey on the second hole," Lulloff said. "Things are going a lot better than last week."

Lulloff, who was on the Malta High School golf team that won the State B Title in 2012, shared her thoughts on the women's league.

"I love to come here every week," Lulloff said. "There is a good variety of women here. Sometimes you only hang out with certain people but with this league, you get to see all age groups and make new friends."

In week two Lulloff also had the low net, which was 32. Nellie Ereaux and Julie Snellman of Team Art's Furniture both tied for second place last week with a total of 8.50 points. Gail Simonson is fourth with 8.0 points. KayDel Stiles and Jamie Ulrich tied for the low gross with 46 strokes.

Jessica Cebulski, Vice-President of the Women's League shared her thoughts on how well the league has been going. She shared her opinion on how the first week of golf went.

"I think that everyone had fun," Cebulski said. "The weather was so-so but it sounded like everyone golfed well. Usually, that first week out of the gates is rough on everybody."

Cebulski said that the league had a "Fun Night," the week prior to league play starting to dust off their golf clubs.

Week two was windy, but midway through the day, Cebulski felt things were going well even with an amendment to the league's rules which will help the golfers.

"We will only be golfing from gold tees this year," Cebulski said. "We normally rotate from gold to white from times that I have played in the league."

She believes that golfing strictly from the gold tees will help golfer's confidence this season.

This week the top two teams, Team Art's Furniture, and Team Tin Cup will square off against each other. Team Independence Bank will take on the Bank of Malta and Team First State Bank will face Team Bishop Building.
