One Nation, Under God
January 31, 1940 – April 26, 2020 (age 80)
Richard (Dick) Herdegen, son of Louis and Betty Herdegen (decd.), took his final flight on April 26, 2020 when he went home to be with his Lord. He lived life to its fullest. He was a lifelong entrepreneur and was always coming up with new business ideas in a wide variety of fields (bike and trophy shop, water well digging, charter fishing, gambling manager, Fry Bread Food truck, hospice home owner/operator, and most recently appliance repair/sales in Palmetto, FL - just to name a few). He grew up working hard on his family’s ranch south of Malta, MT. After high school, he joined the Navy where he gained a love of flying. He went on to earn his pilot’s license; flying was a lifelong hobby, and at times part of his work, including his work as a crop-duster. Dick loved to laugh and enjoyed every adventure that came his way – and he had many.
His faith took deep root in his later years. He was an active volunteer and faithful attendee at Faith Life Church in Sarasota and a volunteer for The Wounded Warrior Project.
He is survived by his children Dawn Jabhan, Dale (Teresa), Alan (Beth), Michelle Graber (Alan), and Jackie Allgood (Jeff); sister Carol Frantal (Bob Graff), brother Bob, 16 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and other loving family and friends. Memorials may be directed to The Wounded Warrior Project. Interment at Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota, FL.
