MHP's Ohl receives Spirit of Montana award

On March 14, 2020, Montana Congressman Greg Gianforte rose in front of the 116th U.S. Congress and said, "Madame Speaker, I rise today to honor Dan Ohl of Malta for going above and beyond to answer the call of duty and personally fly blood platelets to his local hospital in a time of need."

Rep. Gianforte said that in December of 2019, the Phillips County Hospital and Family Health Clinic contacted the Montana Highway Patrol and requested assistance delivering blood from Great Falls to Malta and Trooper Ohl stepped up and honored him with a "Spirit of Montana Award."

"Dan jumped into action and using his own Beach Craft Bonanza 6-seater, started the over 200-mile flight to Great Falls to meet the Red Cross at the local airport," Rep Gianforte said. "He says it was the most precious cargo, aside from his family, he has had on his plane."

Trooper Ohl received a signed copy of Rep. Gianforte's Congressional Record, recognizing Trooper Ohl and his Spirit of Montana award.
