One Nation, Under God
I know it’s obvious, but the last couple of weeks have been strange.
Praise God, that at this moment (Monday morning) there are no positive cases within Phillips County, but that does not mean that we haven’t been affected.
The COVID-19 virus’s first effect in our family’s lives was during the 2020 State G Girls’ tournament in Butte. I had the suspicion that maybe the MHSA would follow suit with the NBA, MLB, and NHL, which canceled sporting events across the coun-try, so that the virus would not spread.
Susan, the boys and myself were blessed to see the M-ettes play the last two games of their year and the team was impressive. Right as the team was playing some of their best ball, the tournament ended abruptly, as I received an email from the MHSA, canceling the final day of basketball in Montana.
I have no doubt in my mind that the team would’ve defeated their morning op-ponent and would have challenged for third place, but because of current events, we will never know if there would’ve been another trophy added to Malta’s illus-trious trophy collection.
I feel for the players, coaches, and spectators, that will never know how the sea-son would have played out, but I do appreciate that no one has contracted COVID-19 due to the state basketball tournaments.
