One Nation, Under God
The Malta M-ettes are heading to Shelby for the 2020 Girls Northern B Divisional with hopes of punching a ticket to the State B Tournament in Missoula.
The M-ettes are scheduled to face the Rocky Boy Morning Stars on Thursday, March 5, at 8 p.m. in Shelby.
Head-to-head, Malta has won the regular season, sweeping Rocky Boy. They defeated the Morning Stars 63-39 in Rocky Boy in January. The Stars came closer in the second meeting closing the gap and losing 46-36 in Malta in February.
If Malta can make it past the Morning Stars for a third time this season, they will likely be matched up against the Fairfield Eagles who defeated the Shelby Coyotes for the 1B Championship on Saturday, February 22, in Cut Bank. Fairfield was led by Kenna Pitcher who had 18 points. Cheyenne Maddox had 13 points.
In order to reach the semi-finals, Fairfield has to defeat Wolf Point, who was the fourth seed in the 2B District.
On the other side of the bracket, the 2B Champion Harlem Wildcats will take on the Choteau Bulldogs, who were the fourth seed in the 1B District. Harlem and Choteau will open the tournament at 1 p.m. on Thursday.
After the opening game, the Glasgow Scotties will take on the Shelby Coyotes at 2:30 p.m.
Only three teams will make it to State out of the Northern B Divisional.
The Tournament's bracket is in page 2B.
