One Nation, Under God

Loring News for January 29, 2020

1-22. Congratulations! We all made it through a brutal week of subzero temperatures and blizzarding conditions! It will certainly look up from now on! The sun dogs were phenomenal on Friday!

The Loring Lutheran Church annual meeting will be on Feb. 9 instead of the second.

The sunsets and sunrises have been spectacular! If you take a cup of close to boiling water outside in this subzero weather and throw it up in the air, it will freeze the steam into ice crystals that resemble snow! It is an interesting activity! Be careful though not to spill on yourself! Another thing I did was to blow a bubble in the freezing cold to see how it reacts! Most of them burst in the air, because the air inside the bubble shrunk. A friend of mine, Tina Russell put colored water in some balloons, froze them outside and made beautiful garden balls of bright colors after the balloons were taken off. I'm wondering how long they’ll be sitting in her front yard!

Loring Woman's Club met at the home of Connie Wasson on Wednesday. Seven members braved the cold to have some great fellowship and discuss the plans for the upcoming year!

Some of our snow birds have flown the coop! I hope they are warm in their new surroundings! We are all having a new moon this week and the stars will be so bright and easy to see! Have a great week and hug your loved ones!

Debbie Hammond hosted a watercolor paint party on Thursday at her home. Revellors with paintbrushes included Cindy Christman, Mary Lundstrom and Dixie Stordahl!

1-29. I finally checked out the refurbished theater on Saturday for the matinee of Little Women. It was a nice movie and the theater was Awesome. I'll probably go to more movies!

What a shocker! The temperatures this whole week have been above zero! Lots of days it has been above freezing for part of the day!

I was beginning to think that the snowy owls had flown the coop, but no, I saw them on Saturday still!

The North Country Mavericks added another W to their record. Both the teams beat the teams from Brockton! The Dingits and Dangits also had their last showing for this season! Those little Mavs really increased their skills!

Watch for Venus in the west each evening and the sliver of a moon! Don't let a day pass without telling your loved ones how you feel.
