Dodson News for January 22, 2020

Jessie James Hawley died this week at Harlem with siblings and family at her side. Jessie was special and will be missed.

Terri Cole was in Malta for a Library meeting on Tuesday.

Nellie Sherman, former superintendent at Dodson, suffered two minor strokes after surgery in Butte, followed by a harder stroke on Friday but is recuperating. She will be moved to a rehab unit in Great Falls by family where she has a daughter and son-in law to visit her and cry for her. She also has a sister in Great Falls. We shall try to get an address and share with you when she is moved and stabilized. In the meantime, she is in our thoughts and prayers.

Terri Cole went to Billings on Thursday and returned home on Friday. Her son Matt followed her home on Friday.

Jessie Hawley's wake was on Thursday evening and her funeral was on Friday. The weather did not cooperate to be very nice for the day.

This week has been very cold for the entire week —holding in the below O regions. Tuesday was our coldest, thank heavens the winds have not blown hard every day as they do some times. We have had a couple of small snowstorms and there has been wind with them that piled the snow. Saturday night was raw — bitter cold and wind moving the snow. Early Sunday morning was nasty but saw a change bringing the temperature up above O, and the slight warming was appreciated. This week is supposed to be in the 30s to 40s all the days and not so very cold at night. It is so surprising that the weather is so different in such small distances apart.

The people who have a lot of stock I am sure are glad to see more moderate weather again. It has been hard on stock and the people caring for them.

The teams played against Luster this week and had some good games. They were well attended despite the cold.

Birthday greetings are extended to Neil Cole, Helen Vogel, Paul Mortenson, Gloria Mortenson, Kay Taylor and all others celebrating a birthday. Anniversary congratulations are sent to Scott and Tammy Wyse.

We can still do everything we used to do, but not until tomorrow.
