Dodson teams head to break

The Dodson Coyotes and Lady Coyotes win streaks were ended on Saturday, December 21, as both teams fell to their opposing Scobey teams in Scobey.

The Lady Coyotes who had a 4-0 record fell 57-22 to the Scobey Lady Spartans and the Coyotes who were 3-0 fell 79-46.

Dodson was able to hang with Scobey for the first quarter and halfway through the second before Scobey pulled away. The Spartans scored 23 points in the second quarter, to Dodson’s 11. Scobey’s run continued into the second half as they were able to outscore Dodson 21-7 in the third quarter and 19-12 in the fourth.

The key to their defeat, offensive boards. Scobey had 30 second-chance points.

The Coyotes were led by Corbin Lonebear, who had 15 points. Shaun Ball had 11 points. Dwight Werk had six points.

The Lady Coyotes were only behind 13-8 in the first quarter before Scobey outscored the Lady Coyotes 24-6 in the second period. The Lady Coyotes only had two field goals in the second half and three made free throws.

Both teams head into the break with only one tough loss, but plenty to work on before their next action against Turner in Turner on Friday, January 3, 2020.
