One Nation, Under God

Whitewater News & Opinion for December 18, 2019

Sympathy to family and friends of Shirley Dunbar. She was a real nice lady and will be missed by all. (The Dunbar's are a pioneer family of Whitewater.) Our sympathy and prayers are with all the family.

Welcome to Whitewater to a couple of preschool children from Georgia. They work for Adam Hellie.

Congratulations to the Mavericks, both boys and girls, including Beau Simonson, a Whitewater Penguin. Also, congratulation the Dodson teams at the Native American basketball competition. The Browning game was at Thriller that went to overtime!

There was a Christmas concert at Whitewater School on December 9th. It featured all grades, and was directed by our own Miriam Sanguine. Santa visited following the concert.

The Whitewater Lutheran Church will have a Christmas program on December 22nd, during church, at 11:15 a.m. Lunch will follow, potluck.

Whitewater has about four inches of snow, some call it a “winter wonderland.” Personally, I wish it would melt. The County snowplows have been busy. The Hellie's snowplow has been plowing all over town. Thanks to them.

Mr. Cummings, school superintendent, keeps the school sidewalks clear; people appreciate that.

Many folks are preparing for Christmas. I’ve sent packages to grandchildren in and I'm sending cards. (And I recently received a card from Iceland.) It was from our friend Donovan Rush, who has been to Iceland three times in 2019! Wow, interesting!

Merry Christmas to all.

Here is a recipe for mom’s eggnog for your holidays.

Beat four eggs with 1/2 to one cup of sugar, mix very well. Add two cups of milk and one teaspoon vanilla. Top with nutmeg and whipped cream.

Enjoy.

Helen A.
