One Nation, Under God
The weather has been normal for December, cold and snowy. I can't complain!
I'm always thankful for my neighbors out here in Loring. They keep the town cleared of snowdrifts in the streets and by the church. And this week Pete Lumsden came down and cleared my drive! Rod had punched a way through, earlier and I'm grateful for that also!
The snowy owls are sitting calmly on the posts or power poles. I've talked to several people who have seen the owls. Remember the white ones are males and the females have dark streaks on their breasts. Young ones have black edges to their feathers. In my yard, I have lots of sharptail grouse who come in to eat some seeds.
The bales finally got cleared from the fields. When the hay got baled, the rain started, and it really didn't clear up enough until just now. I'm glad they were able to get in for the winter!
Antelope are gathering in huge herds. I see two herds on my way to Malta! Isn't it amazing that only 100 tags were let this fall? I'm hoping that the winter isn't too bad and the antelope can survive.
The Loring Woman’s Club put together Christmas Cheer baskets on Friday. I got to deliver mine to Ruth and John Flansaas and Betty Compton. I wish them a very Merry Christmas! Carol Lumsden took one to Howard Berg and Debbie Dyrdahl. Paula and Mick Morrison delivered one to Bill Murdock. Tina Russell dropped one at the Hi-Line Retirement Center and the others were left in mailboxes.
Sympathy is extended from this community to the families of Jeannie Engebretson and Shirley Dunbar. Jeannie was a teacher in the colony for many years. Shirley was a lifelong resident in the Whitewater community.
Some other places I visited in the last two weeks are Debbie Dyrdahl, Virginia Koss and Maxine, and Nancy Murdock. Many people attended the Phillips County Museum’s Christmas Social.
The auctions were phenomenal!
The customer appreciation party at the North Forty Repair turned out great! Thank you, Kenny, for the chili and cinnamon buns!
The Sunday School program will be on December 22 at the Loring Lutheran Church at 11 a.m.! There will be a potluck lunch to follow! All are welcome!
The Loring Woman’s Club had their Christmas party at the Hi-Line Kitchen and Gardening Center. Most of the members and husbands attended! The MacKays served a four-course French meal and then a Chinese gift exchange and gift opening! The food was delicious, and the conversations were invigorating!
Have a wonderful week as we wait for the birthday of our Lord! Thank you for being faithful readers of this column!
