One Nation, Under God
There are plenty of opportunities around Phillips County for people to give to those that might be less fortunate this Christmas.
This Thursday, December 12, Phillips County Title Company is hosting an Open House & Toys for Tots Drive at 318 S. 3rd St. W where people can donate new or like new toys for the Phillips County 4-H program (see more below.) That event will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. For more information call 654-1413.
At United Country Northwest Realty and Auction, those looking to help others need not spend money, but rather spend a few minutes on the company's Facebook site. Each week since the end of November, the crew at United Country picks a topic and their Facebook friends are tasked with posting something they are thankful for along with the weekly theme (new themes are announced on Mondays.) For every comment they receive, United Country will donate $5 to a particular local organization or charity group (thus far they raised $180 for the Malta Food Bank in the first week and picked Malta Opportunities to receive the money raised the next week.) For more information, call 654-1216.
Another way to give this Christmas season is through the Phillips County 4-H Toys for Tots Program. Phillips County 4-H members, Samme & Sidney Gibbs and Charli Carnahan are hosting Toys for Tots through the P.C. 4-H program this year where members are collecting toys to give at least one toy that each child has put on their wish list. The children range in age from birth to 12 years old. The P.C. 4-H took over the program in 2013 when the Malta Woman's Club had to step down. Since that time P.C. 4-H helped 114 children celebrate Christmas. We have received monetary donations of over $2,800 plus over $5,000 in toys.
They will be posting a list of suggested toys at the sites where there are collections boxes. The businesses include First State Bank, Bank of Malta, Independence Bank, Hardware Hank, Spare Change, Todd's Technology, Valley Drug, and Family Matters. You may also give a donation to the program by sending a check to PC 4-H Council at PO Box 430, Malta, MT 59538 or dropping them off in the toy boxes located at various businesses. If you have any questions, please contact the PC Extension Office at 654-2543.
Malta's Studio Stiles & Total Fitness has two programs going on this holiday season, one before Christmas and one geared more towards the New Year.
On Monday, December 6, the crew at Studio Stiles will be giving free haircuts and manicures to children ages 14 and under ...walk-ins only.
Also at Studio Stiles & Total Fitness is the "New Year, New You Makeover" where one lucky winner will receive a makeover valued at $2,300 and includes things like a $200 gift certificate at Family Matters, a one hour massage and many other health and beauty experiences. In order to participate in the "New Year, New You Makeover", head over to Studio Stiles & Total Fitness Facebook page. For more information, call 654-2136.
