One Nation, Under God

Goodbye Fall, hello Winter

The fall sports season is over for Phillips County High School and we are only a few weeks away from winter sports taking over.

I have to say that I am proud of our teams, with all of our teams having good outings in the post-season tournaments.

Football was amazing to watch as the team went 8-2 this year. I missed the game in Red Lodge this past weekend but had the chance to see some amazing post-game pictures of the team and though the game didn’t go their way, there was so much respect seen in those photos. They were proud of what they accomplished and there was a vibe of brotherly love among the athletes.

The Mustangs did have a great year and it was cool seeing them compete hard even with the injuries piling up. It seems that the team had athletes stepping up in each class from senior to freshman.

Truth be told I will miss football season and already look forward to the 2020 season.

Volleyball has been one of those sports that has grown on me. The thing I enjoy most about volleyball is when things click for a team and at some point this season I saw that happen for both the Mavericks and M-ettes.

The regular season was a tough outing for Malta, given their injuries. But there were times that you could see the team come together despite not having won many games. The fact that the team was able to pick up a win at the divisional tournament last week was great to see.

The Mavericks were also able to win at the divisional tournament after competing hard in the stacked 1C district. The Mavericks came to life in the District tournament, entering as the seventh seed and leaving with a third-place trophy.

I even had the chance to check out state cross country this season and to me, that was a highlight of my year. To see our runners compete despite the snow conditions in Great Falls was inspirational.

To see the encouragement on the sidelines at state cross country was great.

In the Bibbs boys chronicles, poor PJ has to get his tonsils removed. I hit a low when the doctor said it likely causes discomfort when he eats certain food because his tonsils were so large.

Lincoln has been good. He is finally better after fighting an ear infection.
