Livestock Association and Grazing Districts receive financial support from community

The recent efforts to support the legal challenges faced by the Phillips County Livestock Association and North and South Cooperative State Grazing Districts by the Hi-Line Heritage Group and Phillips County Cattlewomen resulted in $50,960.25 in support.

"The way the community has stepped up to support our livestock industry is just truly amazing "said Marko Manoukian, Secretary/Treasurer of the Association in receiving a check from Sally Salveson, representing the Phillips County Cattle Women, and Katie Brown representing The Hi-Lin Heritage group.

While most of the over 200 individual donations have come from the local community, donations have come from as far away as Sidney and Libby, and as far south as Colorado. Other Grazing Districts also have supported the legal challenge.

When asked about her involvement in the Hi-Line Heritage, Katie Brown stated;

"I suppose there are many reasons why I am so invested in Hi-Line Heritage. But I think the main reason is that my family has invested a full 4 generations into our home place, and now my children will be the 5th. It isn't just land to me. It's hard work, broken bones and the growth of strong relationships within our family. My grandparents and great grandparents are buried there. You can't put a price on that. With that being threatened, it brings a whole new level of motivation to my side. And being able to help gather our community and raise funds for the bison ordinance, well that just topped it all."

The group is working on its non-profit status and plans to continue its mission to serve our community and protect our local agriculture producers as Rural Communities & Agricultural Neighbors (RCAN).
