One Nation, Under God

Whitewater News and Opinion for September 23, 2019

Sympathy to all hurricane victims everywhere. It’s terrible.

Sympathy to the family of Marie Wasson. They farmed near Loring, Mont., for many years. The children now operate farms.

Congratulations to the Whitewater Penguins and North County Mavericks on their volleyball victories.

Reminder, Whitewater’s North 40 serves Senior Meals on Wednesday’s for a small fee. Others are welcome to attend but will need to pay the full price. There have been up to 12 people at the meals recently. The Council on Aging sponsors the meals.

Chalise Young, my granddaughter, came to Whitewater and then took me for a swim near Saco. It was a fun day. She and I met her mother, Gale, there and also Alexis of Saco High School and the Pay N Save store. There were many swimming there, mostly children. There was no lifeguard, but at least most of the children were wearing life preservers.

The Whitewater Baptist Church members are completing the work on their living quarters. Carpenters include Pastors Wisher and Burges and two other gentlemen from the Baptist Lighthouse Church in South Carolina are also assisting. Welcome to them.

Whitewater Lutheran Church had a guest named Hercomer on Sunday. (He is a puppet operated by Pastor Bob Nagy…very nice and entertaining.)

Judy (former Whitewater resident) and Debbie Anderson’s mother is visiting family in our area. Judy now lives in Helena, Mont.

Thanks to Pat Murdock for writing the “Plainsview News.” I don’t hear much from up there so I like your news.

Whitewater is growing; Scott Scheffelmear’s dog had seven puppies! They are black and white and oh so cute. Maybe you would like one? Give them a call.

Also, the Hellies’ goats had two kids. How fun.

Note: Ryan Olson Dart Tournament, silent auction and supper will be Saturday, September 28 starting at 1 p.m. at the North 40. Donations are going to be accepted and proceeds are for scholarships. For more information, call Allie or Sue Olson in Whitewater.

Some farmers in Phillips County and Whitewater areas are not finished harvesting just yet and the crops are too wet. There has been much rain and everything is so green.

A farewell BBQ and potluck will be held for Pastor Wisher and family this Sunday, September 29 at the Whitewater Baptist Church starting at 4:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Enjoy the late summer.

Helen A.
