One Nation, Under God
We will be starting up an informal (some discussion and some instruction) grief support group this fall. Our once a week meeting is to provide support for those who have lost a loved one. It will be held at the Malta Senior Citizen Center on Wednesday mornings from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. beginning the 25th of September. By educating ourselves, by sharing our experience and learning about grief we are able to better deal with our loss.
In our experience, we have heard many reasons why a person won’t consider going to any sort of support group meeting. Some of the reasons we hear are: “I am doing fine, I deal with it my own way, I don’t like group meetings, I don’t like to share my feelings.” Again in our experience, we find even if we don’t feel the need to share or don’t feel we need guidance, there is usually someone who can benefit from our story if we choose to share it and connecting with others is healthy. (As with all successful groups, you are never forced to share.)
As an added bonus, one evening a month, we will have an activity night or a guest speaker to explore possible new interests.
So connecting with others “in the same boat” as we are, making new friends, possibly finding a new interest are just a few of the good reasons why you might try out this group.
Please call Tammy Hubany (920-572-0161) or Dianne Salsbery (406-654-4675) with any questions.
This grief support group is sponsored by Phillips County Mental Health Local Advisory Council (LAC).
