One Nation, Under God
9-4. It’s September so happy birthday to all September birthdays including Dixie Moore.
Labor Day weekend there were a lot of activities in Phillips County.
First the Milk River Wagon Train celebrated 50 years of traveling the trails by horse and wagons. This year there were lots of wagons, surreys, beautiful horses, and riders. Riders from Whitewater included Mark Lageson, some of the Anderson families, and Janice Reichelt. Good riding and driving.
There were wagons driving and there were wagons from Canada. The parade was wonderful. I have enjoyed it for year.
Hello to all school students. Drivers, please be aware of pedestrians of all ages.
There was a special baptism church service in Whitewater Sunday. There were five people baptized! Pastors Wisher and Burgess were officiating. A picnic lunch followed the church service.
Helen DePuydt had company including her daughter Laurie Walker and granddaughter Onyx Walker, both of Green, S.C. Laurie was a past student of Whitewater Schools. We had a nice visit at the North 40 Café.
Thanks to the Hi-Line Retirement Center and Phillips County Hospital for tickets sponsoring the Fort Peck Theatre on Friday. Also thanks to the Phillips Transit Authority for driving the busload to the theatre at Fort Peck. The play was “On Golden Pond” and it was excellent. We ate at the Gateway and it was very good food.
Those attending from Whitewater were Sally Austin, Ree Simosnson, and myself. We picked up Gale Young in Saco and celebrated her birthday late. A very nice evening.
Congratulations to Dennis Donavan, a former Whitewater resident, who qualified for top roping at a recent competition.

In Whitewater, the grass is so green although August was so long and hot. Great!
9-11. I heard this is the last wagon train because the older cowboys and cowgirls are gone and the younger ones aren’t interested anymore. Here’s hoping that the younger riders will step up and continue the tradition.
The Phillips County Motor Sports and Dragstrip had huge attendance and all had a great time. There were so many vehicles, motorhomes and trailers. It was incredible. Congratulations to all winners and participants.
Congratulations to the Soennichsens on the great family reunion. They had family from many towns and friends at their party in Whitewater and at our own Forks Hall on Saturday. There was a delicious meal. A speech about their family was given by Sally Austin and others. Ron and Candi Soennichsen brought their family on a bus! They all attended church at Whitewater Lutheran Church before the party and all were welcome.
George and Carol Pippin are both Soennichsen family members.
I rode the bus to Malta and it was fun.
Saco Fun Days was well attended. Many from Whitewater attended, including the Simonsons and Sally Austin. Former Whitewater residents Doug Tribby and his daughter, Irene, attended also. A wonderful Labor Day weekend.
Enjoy the wonderful weather, I hope it lasts.
Helen A.
