One Nation, Under God

Loring News for September 11, 2019

Congrats to Beau Simonson and the Mustangs on their recent win over Roundup! Kia Wasson played volleyball on Friday and Paige Wasson traveled with the junior high Mavericks all the way to the eastern side of our state! Also congratulations to Hannah Hanley who has qualified for state in cross country already!

The northern lights were very active this week. I'm happy I got to see them dance! Janet Berg saw me at the Historic Walk and said she'd gone out to the Scandia Church and was thrilled at how good they were! Also the Milky Way was brilliant! So happy that someone took the time to see them!

We got a bunch of rain on Friday night, completely stopping the harvest! The fire danger is down at least!

I drove up to Havre with Cary Woodruff on Sunday so he could catch the plane to Billings. We went to Guadalajara for lunch and after Cary took off I stopped to visit Kathy Mayer. Kathy says Hi to everyone in Whitewater! Her family lived there for many years.

Monday I went in to watch the wagon train pull into Malta! It always surprises me how many people make that trip each year! This was the fiftieth year for the Milk River Wagon Train. Even though a couple of years the number of wagons was significantly less due to fire danger. Dollyann Willcutt treated me to a birthday lunch! So nice!

I enjoyed listening to the Historical Walk sponsored by the Phillips County Museum.

Orvin Solberg, Jeannie Green, John McKeon, and Dollyann Willcutt were presenters along with five middle schoolers who talked about their ancestors. Very cool! It was fun to visit with some old friends while there!

Loring Ladies Bible study is at Whitney Blunt's on Wednesday evening. Woman’s Club is the next Wednesday at Heather Simonson's home! By the way the Loring Woman’s’Club members have raffle tickets for sale. A 36-inch flat top gas griddle and a laptop will be raffled off for $5 a ticket. I have tickets, as do the other members!

It seems that fall is on the way, the mice are on the move! I haven't caught any inside, but I set some traps out on the deck and have caught one at least every night! In Malta, Debbie and Cindy were sitting on the pickup talking when Cindy noticed a critter running in the gutter. They watched it for a while until it jumped up on the curb and ran toward one of the local adult drink joints. Cindy observed that it must be going to get hot again since even the mice need a cold one! (The mouse did not gain entry! Size does matter!)

Paula Morrison and grandson Kyson visited with me one day! It was so enlightening to have a young person visiting and playing with my antique toys!

Cindy and Dave Clark took in some of the Chokecherry Festival in Lewistown on Friday and Saturday. They then drove the What the Hay Bale Trail between Utica, Moore, and Wyndham! It's so important to take a weekend off the regular schedule to regroup!

Have a good stress free week!
