Historical Walk this Sunday at H.G. Robinson House

The 2019 Phillips County Historic Walk gets underway this Sunday, September 8, at the H.G. Robinson House in Malta and will feature four adults portraying some of the area’s historic figures and another seven area youths who will reprieve the roles they played last year at the Wax Museum put on by Malta Middle School students.

The event starts at 1 p.m. on Sunday and ticket sales begin at 12:15 p.m. and are $10 each (or can be pre-purchased at the Phillips County Museum ahead of the event.)

The Historic Walk will feature Orvin Solberg portraying William Thomas Garrison, pioneering prominent Saco rancher; John McKeon as Phillips County rancher and entrepreneur John Survant; Dollyann Willcutt as pioneer woman Wilhelmtina Hamilton, and Jeannie Green as Annie Dunbar. The adult speakers will be stationed throughout the grounds at the H.G. Robinson House and will each give four 12-to-15 minute lectures on their subjects.

Last year, a total of 46 Malta Middle School students portrayed family members at the Phillips County Museum’s Wax Museum presentation. At this Sunday’s Historic Walk, a total of seven children will reprieve those roles including Danika Wilke as she plays her great-grandfather Lester Wilke; Chuck Brettin as his great-great-grandfather Lee Schumacher, and Kyann Bergos portraying her great-great-grandmother Nellie Kirkaldie Messerly.

The afternoon will also feature refreshments and the “Barn Quilts” Display with garments sewn by the Malta Hands All-Around Quilt Club.

The Historic Walk is a fundraiser sponsored by the Phillips County Historical Society and the Malta Dirt Daubers Club. Proceeds from the event will benefit the many Historical Society history preservation projects.
