2019 P.C. 4-H Carcass Winners

The carcass results from the 2019 4-H and FFA livestock show at the Phillips County Fair are complete. Carcass results are eligible to be submitted to the Steer of Merit program, sponsored by the Montana Stockgrowers; Symbol of Excellence program, sponsored by the Montana Pork Producers Council; and Montana Certified Lamb program, sponsored by the Montana Wool Growers.

For meeting individual carcass requirements, youth winners and the breeders of their animals receive a certificate from the sponsoring livestock organizations, and 4-H trophies for first (Grand) and second (Reserve) place exhibitors in each species.

There were two steers out of 35 that qualified for Steer of Merit. The Grand Champion Market Beef Carcass was presented to Brylee French. Her trophy sponsor was the Doucette Ranch. Brylee’s beef breeder was Willie Doll. The Reserve Champion Carcass was awarded to Kendall Moore with the trophy sponsored by Bill’s Classic Auto Body & Towing. Kendall’s beef breeder was Rafter E Angus.

There was one market lamb that qualified for Montana Certified Lamb. The Grand Champion Market Lamb Carcass belonged to Rory Green with his trophy sponsored by Moore’s Printing – Charlie & Cheryl Moore. Rory’s lamb breeder was Jeanie Green. Reserve Champion Market Lamb Carcass trophy was awarded to Sommer Green and the trophy sponsor was Marko and Linda Manoukian. Sommer’s lamb breeder was Jeanie Green.

Fourteen swine qualified for the Symbol of Excellence swine carcass awards out of 49. The Grand Champion Market Swine Carcass was awarded to Marshall Caves with his trophy sponsor being Knights of Columbus 2124. The swine breeder was Charles Mavencamp. The Reserve Champion Market Swine Carcass trophy was awarded to Kylie Bishop and the trophy was sponsored by R & G Quality Feeds. The swine breeder was the Salveson/Witmer Families. Other SOE certificate winners were; Titus Wiederrick, Tyler Arnold, Ellis Carnahan, Kennedy Koss, Eva Yeadon, Kendall Clausen, Lauren Tuss, Emree Stuart, Kazner Oxarart, Charlie Carnahan, Macey Blunt, and Connor Tuss. Marshall Caves is the recipient of the Grand Champion Overall Pork Award sponsored by R & G Quality Feeds.
