One Nation, Under God

Loring News for August 28, 2019

The rainy season hit us like a huge wave from the ocean! Combining in the area has ground to a halt! The crops had been producing a nice yield, but I'm not sure how the average will end up. I always like to stay positive, so at least we are able to harvest. Some people are using this downtime to build fences or rebuild them.

The goldfinches are trying out my sunflower seeds. The birds are so bright yellow with black caps and have a soft song.

Fran Compton of Douglas, Alaska, has been my house guest this week! Wednesday evening Carol Lumsden invited us over for dinner since Bella Lawless was heading to college the next day! It was fun interacting with Whitney’s kids and Bella! Good luck to Bella for the school year!

Tuesday the Great Plains Dinosaur Museum held its monthly meeting in Malta. Amanda Hendrix, our paleontology intern, will be heading to Calgary soon to start her Master's program. She taught me how to make replica fossils so I might be able to keep a supply going on. We went out to dinner on Sunday with her father, Jerry Hendrix, from Washington DC area, Cary Woodruff, Fran Compton, Amanda and myself. I sure will miss her.

I dog sat a few days for Hatcher Woodruff, which was so fun! Cary and Amanda joined Fran and me for happy hour on Friday evening before we barbequed the steaks.

I played trivia at the Brewery on Thursday evening and my team won the music trivia again. I just happened to be on a good team, I know nothing about music!!

Fran and Betty Jo Compton went out for dinner at the GN on Thursday night. I joined them after the trivia!

The town of Loring looks so spiffy with all the grass mowed up! Thanks to Dave and Cindy Clark and Kenny Clark! You always do an awesome job!

Shout out today to Marie Wasson in Malta, and Debbie and Leroy Dyrdahl! Also to Betty Munson in Havre! I have not forgotten you!

When you are out and about give thanks for our freedoms and tell your family you love them!
