Glenn was born January 18, 1924, to Herb and Helen Compton in a homestead house near the Canadian border at Lowrane, Mont. Glenn attended the North Fork School and Loring High School. Glenn married Betty Jo Remy in 1949 and they had two children Gary and Gene. In addition to farming, Glenn bought and sold wheat and supplies for the GTA elevator in Loring, Mont. Betty Jo and Glenn also owned and operated the Loring General Store in the 1950's and 60's. In the 1970's he became a full-time farmer/rancher and later delighted his grandkids with a particular "Come Boss" call to bring in the cows.
Glenn was a Shriner and past Master of the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed being a Shriner clown and selling beef raffle tickets to raise money for Shiner Hospitals, Eastern Star, and other charitable organizations. Glenn was very active in the Loring Lutheran church and all Loring community events.
Glenn and Betty Jo were married almost 70 years and spent most of their time together. They traveled to Arizona for 25 winters but Glenn never really "retired" because he enjoyed summers in Loring counting cows, checking water, and fencing.
Glenn is survived by wife Betty Jo; son Gene (Cindy), grandchildren Zeb (Marissa), Leah (Ryan), Elise (Zach), three greats Peta and Milla Compton and Roxy Lewis. Glenn was preceded in death by his son, Gary Compton, brothers Ross, John and Kay Compton.
