One Nation, Under God
Much of the hay barley has been swathed and huge bales are being dropped in the fields as the farmers store up the feed for winter use. To me, it looks like a great year, if the swathes can get baled before the wind blows the hay around or the rain hits it. The grain crops are starting to turn golden, won't be long now until those big combines are knocking down the grain and it'll be in storage granaries until needed.
I do enjoy the different colors of green that the crops show. The crop tour was held in the Loring area on Tuesday. It was well attended and the dinner in Loring Park was delicious! Bella Lawless, Alice Bartz, and Carol Lumsden and Kalum visited with Dixie Stordahl.
Sunday Bonnie McMullen, Lu Besel, and Dixie Stordahl attended the Fort Peck Theater to enjoy the Marvelous Wonderettes! It was a wonderful collection of 50-60’s songs! I saw several other Phillips County residents there!
I spent a few hours with Debbie Dyrdahl on Friday. We talked about the good old days!
What a surprise I had when I went to the post office on Tuesday! Palmer Scott and daughter Sonja were visiting his old stomping ground! Palmer lives in Hamilton now but tries to make it back to Phillips County in the summertime. They were visiting Ron and Cindy Scott in Malta and making other stops. He was a student at the Loring School while his dad was the principal back in the ’30s. More of his family stopped later in the week, I didn’t get to meet them, but I saw their names in the church guest book. Hi to all the Scotts!
Loring church council held their quarterly meeting on Sunday. We are still waiting for some of the outside work to be finished on the church so we can get our landscaping finished! We are looking at a date for our dedication and want to have the whole thing done so let’s get to work! It is a beautiful church!
The Phillips County Fair is just around the corner! The 4H kids are busy finishing up their projects and working with their animals. The adults are trying to be supportive! And then right after the fair...School starts! It can't be so! Enjoy every single second of this summer. Don't waste a minute. And be sure to tell your loved ones that you love them, never know when you won't be able to again.
