The Malta Swim Team scored a total of 164 combined points at the Lewistown Swim Meet last weekend with only seven swimmers.
The event was held on Saturday, July 13 through Sunday, July 14.
"Everyone did amazing this weekend, all cutting times on their races, you can definitely tell it's the end of the season with how the kids have all improved," Malta Coach Cassie Pratt said.
Malta was led by 10-year-old Jahmiah Huffman-LaBrie who was the high point earner for his age group, earning 42 points by winning three events. He won the 100 Meter IM with a time of 1:41.11, an improvement of 8.63 seconds from his previous best. He had a time of 44.07 in the 50 Meter Backstroke, a time of 46.45 in the 50 Meter Flystroke.
"Miah shows up to every race prepared to give his all in the water, I really appreciate that he is always time focused instead of place focused," Coach Pratt said. "He just wants to improve every time, regardless of how he will place. We were both very excited this meet though because for the 50 backstroke he broke the pool record with a time of 44.07."
Darrow Messerly scored 31 points, winning the Boys 15-19 100 Meter Breaststroke with a time of 1:22.90. He also placed third in the 200 IM with a time of 3:01.71 and sixth in the 100 Free with a time of 1:06.77, a 10.48 improvement on his previous personal best.
Eight-year-old Taya Wilke scored a total of 24 points, placing second in both the Girls 8 & Under 25 Meter Breaststroke and 100 Meter IM. She had times of 33.37 and 2:24.58 respectively. She had a time improvement of 9.50 seconds in the 25 Meter Breaststroke.
Eleven-year-old Danika Wilke scored 22 points placing fifth in the 50 Meter Backstroke with a time of 47.54. She was sixth in the 200 IM with a time of 3:54.09 and sixth in the 200 Meter Free with a time of 3:16.82.
Thirteen-year-old Reese Brown scored 21 points taking fifth in the 100 Meter Breaststroke with a time of 1:55.70 and sixth in the 50 Meter Free with a time of 38 seconds.
Fourteen-year-old Makiya Wilke scored 20 points taking fifth in the 100 Meter Free with a time of 1:23.53 and sixth in the 100 Meter Breaststroke with a time of 1:47.48.
Seven-year-old Nolan Moore scored four points, placing ninth in the 25 Meter Backstroke with a time of 35.87.
The team will head to Glendive for their last regular season meet of the regular season. The Glendive meet in scheduled for Saturday, July 20 and Sunday, July 21.
