One Nation, Under God

Whitewater News and Opinion for July 17, 2019

7-10. Happy birthday to all July birthdays including my daughters, Gale Young and Teresa Dyck.

The Milk River Gospel Jamboree featured wonderful singers, musicians, and a great comedian. The music was beautiful and inspirational. Several groups were from Canada and they were all wonderful. There was also a family group from Michigan with a daughter in tow who could yodel like a cowgirl. Several people from Whitewater attended the events, including myself. Sally Austin won some auction items and prizes, as did others, and the meals were all delicious.

I met my friend Irene on Wednesday and had a nice visit. She is a former Whitewater resident.

Congratulations to Bruce and Lyn Hill on their 50th wedding anniversary. That’s a long time! The Hills celebrated their big day on June 14 during a family reunion at a resort in Seely Lake, owned by Pat and Tom Donich and family (Pat was raised in Whitewater and graduated from WHS.) The Hills said they had a wonderful time.

The Little Rockies Christian Camp is one of Bruce and Lyn’s projects and they recently completed their “Teepee Camp.” They also host a Labor Day Camp so contact them for more information.

Phillips County 4-H children, including the Whitewater group, are preparing for the Phillips County Fair. Good luck to all.

Sympathy to residents in the Montana towns of Turner, Hobson, Moore, and others who might have been affected by recent tornado warnings. In Whitewater, we felt terrific winds and rain that caused tree limbs to break and fall. Also, along with the storm, there were brilliant lightening strikes and thunder washed over us and sounded like sonic booms. (Maybe God was playing with fireworks.)

Hope you enjoyed your Fourth of July.

7-17. Happy birthday to Pat Murdock and Allie Olson of Whitewater.

Also, happy birthday to my girls Teresa D., of Swift Current, Canada, and Gale Y. of Saco; also to all July birthdays including Dale Green.

Congratulations to the wedding of Alaina Cole (Julie Austin) who lives near Spokane, Wash. Sally Austin and the Reichelt's attended a very nice wedding.

Also congratulations to Jamie Anderson and bride who were wed in Billings, Mont. Some families attended a lovely wedding.

There was a basketball camp in Whitewater this week and players from other towns attended.

On July 4th the Sleeping Buffalo and Nelson Reservoir were both full of campers, trailers, motor homes, and people. My daughter Gale drove me down there to swim and view the lake. We had a picnic lunch and a very nice day.

Others at the lake were Ree Simonson’s family, Pat and Barb Dunbar, and Fred Allery. It was a beautiful day out.

Enjoy these summer days.

As always,

Helen A.
