Doris Annette Wombold

Doris Annette Wombold passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on June 25, 2019. Her Celebration of Life will be held at the Malta Lutheran Parish on July 9, at 11 a.m. with a luncheon to follow. There will be a private burial at the Malta Cemetery.

Doris just celebrated her 75th birthday and 55th wedding anniversary on June 7th with family and friends. She was born to Clay and Lillian Hales on June 7, 1944, in Malta, Montana, fourth of five children. Doris was raised on a farm in the Larb Hills, East of Malta, growing up helping with cattle, horses, and crops. She attended school in Malta.

She worked in high school as a waitress at Lang's Café in Malta. She later followed her sister, Gloria, to Butte, beginning her passion as a caregiver working at St. James Hospital as a CNA. She moved back to Malta and married Stanley Wombold on June 7, 1964. She worked at Lang's Café until giving birth to a daughter, Ann in 1965. She then worked for Valley Cleaners until her son John was born in 1966. Over the next 49 years, she worked for Ken's Thriftway, Coast to Coast, Gaffney's and the Malta Hospital as a CNA.

She was a hard worker, caring and giving person. She became an EMT which she loved by helping those in need and continued with that passion over 28 years. During that time she taught many CPR and First aid classes as a certified instructor as well as driving the ambulance. She was very active in her church, lending a hand wherever needed. She was an active board member with the Malta Food Bank and a proud member of the Red Hatters.

She was adventurous, loved life and lived on her terms. Some adventures took her to Paris with her niece, Patricia, where she viewed the Mona Lisa and drank espresso at a street café. She loved fishing, gardening and water skiing with her family and friends. She took a trip to Maui with her niece Patricia and daughter Ann in March of 2018 where she found out she discovered her love of parasailing, Pina Coladas but an extreme fear of zip lining.
