Several M-ette tracksters are set to head to Glasgow for the 2019 Northern B Divisional track meet this Saturday after qualifying at the 2B District meet last Saturday, in Wolf Point.
As a team, the M-ettes took third place with a total of 113 points. Glasgow won the event with 178 points, Wolf Point was second with a total of 124, Harlem was fourth with 59 points, and Poplar was fifth with 48.
Individually, M-ette sophomore Erica Smith pulled a hat trick winning long jump, triple jump, and the 300-meter hurdles. Smith won triple jump with a personal best of 34-11.25, the long jump with a leap of 15-07, and 300 hurdles with a season's best of 51.14. Smith was also fifth in high jump after clearing 4-6.
The PCN caught up with Smith after she won long jump.
"It excites me because it means I am getting a little bit better since I have been in that range consistently," Smith said after posting her leap of 15-7.
M-ette Justine Lamb won the 100 hurdles with a personal best of 16.87. Lamb was second in the 300 hurdles with a time of 51.85 and third in high jump by clearing 4-08.
Senior Wylee Young took fourth in high jump by clearing 4-08.
Kayla Judd set personal bests in both hurdle events taking fourth in the 100 hurdles with a time of 18.96 and sixth in the 300 hurdles with a time 55.74.
Carly Garfield won the shot put title with a personal best of 33-04, in her final throw.
"I just decided not to think about it, not stress out at all, I went for it and I got a PR and I got first," Garfield said.
Garfield also took fourth place in discus with a throw of 97-11.
Freshman Skylie Lefdahl took second place in discus with a personal best of 98-10. Prior to her last throw in preliminaries, Lefdahl was landing in the sixties.
"This whole season, I had been throwing in the eighties and seventies and this week in practice I had started perfecting my form and then I started hitting 90's in practice," Lefdahl said. "I am feeling really good and I am proud of myself."
Freshman Nikki Nicholson took fifth in the 100 hurdles with a personal best 19.57.
Senior Shelby Jones qualified for divisionals by taking sixth in javelin with a personal best of 87-5.
Sophomore Sidney Meeks took sixth place in discus with a personal best of 92-10.
Junior Jillian O'Brien was sixth place in triple jump with a mark of 28-10.50 and sixth in the 100 hurdles with a time of 19.62.
Both relay teams qualified for the Northern B. The short relay consisting of Leslie Young, Erica Smith, Kaylee Bishop, and Wylee Young placed third with a time of 55.53.
"I feel like we did pretty good today considering it is kind of cold outside and it is hard to keep warm," W. Young said. "I feel like we are going to do better at divisionals."
The long relay comprised of Bishop, W. Young, Lefdahl, and Lamb took fifth with a time of 4:58.44.
