MALTA- Frank Leroy "Lurch" Nivens 66, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2019 in Glasgow, Montana. Surrounded by his soulmate Lori, daughters Georgeena, Echo Kay, and grandchildren Thaison, Samara and Sierra. Memorial services will take place at Montana Gulch Campground August 31, 2019 at 11 A.M.

Lurch was born on August 26, 1952 to George Lee and Athelia (Dilly) Nivens in Havre, Montana. From there they moved to Harlem, Montana and in 1964 they moved to Big Sandy, Montana where he remained until 1979. During his high school years he wrestled and is remembered for his antics for football as a Big Sandy Pioneer.
Lurch met the love of his life, Lori Jo French in 1975 and they were married on September 6, 1980. Together they had 2 daughters Georgeena Ione, born on October 29, 1982 and Echo Kay was born on August 1, 1984.
In 1984 Lurch moved his family to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where they lived until 1986. They then moved to Marshall's Creek, Pennsylvania where they lived until 1988 when they returned to Big Sandy, Montana. In 1994 they moved to Great Falls, Montana and in 1995 they moved to Malta, Montana where they chose to stay.
He enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, to which he fondly referred to as his "babies."
Lurch was a carpenter by trade and, was sometimes referred to as the "wood wizard." He could fix just about anything that needed fixing.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Katherine and Adam Zinn, paternal grandparents Bernice and Walter Nivens, 3 brothers; Lee and Roy Nivens and Wesley Gorman; his father George Lee Nivens and sister –in- law Joann Nivens.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years Lori (French) Nivens of Malta, 3 daughters, Lisa Yanny of Helena, Georgeena Ione Nivens of Havre, and Echo Kay (Bryce) Dean of Alexander, North Dakota; 11 grandchildren Liberty Le of Helena, Thaison (Kimberly) Le of Havre, Samara And Sierra Yanny of Bozeman, Phoenix (Rocio) Nivens of Pearland, Texas, Mathias and Mykhia Cole of Helena, Andreena Jo Bock of Alder, Tirzah Ione, James Austin, and Cora Elizabeth Dean of Alexander, North Dakota and 6 great grandchildren. His mother Athelia (Dilly) Nivens of Big Sandy, siblings Dennis (Toni) Nivens of Great Falls, Ron and Randy Nivens of Big Sandy, Monica (Jack) Halbert of Malta, Tammy (Jim) Houle of Big Sandy, Donna (Bob) Roswell of Rock Springs, Wyoming and many nieces, nephews, and cousins
Lurch always had a way with people, anybody who came into contact with him formed an unbreakable bond. He loved by all and will be greatly missed.
