American Legion Post 57 News for May 8, 2019

A two-year project to update the maps and lists of veterans in all Phillips County locations (cemeteries and other areas ) is about 50% complete. Ninety to 100% of the veterans buried in Malta, Zortman, Landusky, Forks, Sun Prairie, Sunny Slope, and as much info as time permits of the Saco, Dodson, and Rietan Cemeteries will be on display on Memorial Day on May 27th. Please plan on taking the time to review then or soon after to be sure your relatives and past community members are listed in the forthcoming updated lists. Other displays will celebrate the Posts 100th birthday by showing clippings of points in the 3 county posts history, and the biggest gathering in Malta's history at the 1st Convention of World War Veterans of Montana on June 30th and July 1st of 1919. It was at this convention that Montana veterans changed the name to become a branch of the recently formed American Legion. Other plans for that day are under discussion.
