One Nation, Under God
The Phillips County Coalition for Healthy Choices and Malta Boys & Girls Club are continuing fundraising efforts to complete much-needed repairs on their existing building housed in the former St. Mary’s Catholic School.
Weather and wear have taken its toll on the early-1900’s built building, and repairs are needed. Water from the leaky roof has damaged windowsills and floors throughout the building, and Club activities have been canceled several times in the past few years due to flooding from the damaged roof. In addition, new back doors are needed and the concrete platform and stairs at the exterior entrance have worn down and are beginning to crumble, causing a safety concern.
The total cost for the repairs is approximately $60,000, and to date, they have raised $38,000, including a grant from the Gianforte Family Foundation and the Club’s ONE Campaign fundraiser.
A Spaghetti Dinner followed by Live, and Silent Auctions will be held on Friday, April 12th. starting at 6 p.m. The event will be held in the dining room downstairs at the Malta Boys & Girls Club, located at 101 South 7th Street West. Tickets for the event can be purchased from the following Boys & Girls Club Staff: Carol Smith, Sonia Young, Elaine Stannebein, Gina Lamb, Jacy Stolem, Taylor Eggebrecht, and Chayana Stolem. Please purchase your tickets as soon as possible, as a count is needed for the meal.
Items are still being sought for the Live and Silent Auctions. If you are interested please contact the Malta Boys & Girls Club at 406-654-2378. All proceeds from the fundraiser will go into the building repair fund which will keep our facility open to serve the youth and families of our community.
