MALTA- Dennis Edward Clausen passed away in the early morning of March 6, 2019 at the Phillips County Hospital after a long-fought battle of strokes and seizures.
Family received friends on Friday, March 8, 2019, at Kirkwood Memorial Chapel. Memorial services were Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Malta Lutheran Church. Dennis was a lifelong resident of the Malta Community. Dennis was born in Havre, Mont., on December 3, 1946 to John and Laura (Nitz) Clausen. Dennis attended Malta Public Schools where he graduated in 1965. After high school, Dennis attended the National Electronics Institute in Denver, Colo., where he received his Senior Electronics Technician certificate November 1967. He worked in a television repair shop in Choteau, Mont., for a short while and then returned to Malta and worked at Malta Mercantile and Ford Garage as a tractor mechanic. He left to work on a ranch with his dad until his dad took ill and had to sell the place. In 1979, Dennis started working for the gas company until he was disabled due to his stroke in 1997.
On July 5, 1968, Dennis married the love of his life, Margie Slaymaker. They were inseparable doing multiple activities together. They had two sons Curtis born October 30, 1973 and Carter born June 2, 1975.
Dennis loved being involved in his boys' lives. He coached their baseball teams, followed them in their activities, and went hunting and fishing together. Hunting was his pride and joy. He loved taking the boys and numerous friends hunting in the Breaks and Larb Hills, his places of happiness. Dennis was an amazing woodworker. He built numerous projects for his wife, mother, sisters, kids and grandkids.
Dennis is survived by his adoring wife of 50 years Margie Clausen; sons Curtis (Carrie) Clausen of Medicine Hat, Alberta, and Carter (Shyla) Clausen of Malta; sister Gracie (Jim) Pankratz of Opheim; grandkids Braydon Penner, Josh Penner, Emerson Clausen, Reed Clausen, Payton Clausen, Connor Clausen and Kendall Clausen. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Laura Clausen, sisters Judy and Jane Clausen.
