One Nation, Under God
3-6. Sympathy to ranchers and baby calves born in cold and snow.
A salute to all senior citizens who live alone, and survive our bad cold, snowy, Montana winters. We are pioneers!
However, life is usually easier today, than it was for the early pioneers. Today we have electricity, gas and good heating systems. Also, and most important, most houses have indoor plumbing and running water.
We should not take modern conveniences for granted, especially water.
Our winter is affecting so many. For instance, the Billings Gazette newspaper did not arrive today, February 25. Also, the ever faithful Amtrak train was canceled due to snow on the tracks and bitter cold weather.
Some from the Whitewater area attended ball games in Wolf Point and Glasgow. The Reichelt went to Billings to basketball games and on business.
Wednesday, I went to Malta and met Julie Austin Cole and Jeff called. They were going to Helena for meetings. Then to Laurel, Montana, to visit his mother, Terri Cole. They also visited their son, Caleb, and Challise in Bozeman.
My daughter Gale gave me a ride to Saco on Wednesday.
Mark Hebert from the PCN called me. He thanked me for writing the WW News. I appreciated that a lot.
A couple from here attended the Irish Rovers concert in Billings, and they said it was wonderful.
Late congratulations to the Whitewater High School band, who performed at the basketball tournament games. Our Whitewater band is directed by Mary M Sanguin‘s and group.
Welcome back to Serena Sanguin‘s Whitewater High School grad. She has been attending culinary school in western Montana. Congratulations Serena.
To all: dress warmly. Think spring!
3-13. Our prayers and sympathy to victims of tornadoes down south.
Get well Terry Cole of Dodson.
Sympathy to the family of Norma Berg Fowler and on the loss of Roger Fowler of Shelby. Howard Berg of Whitewater is Norma‘s brother. The funeral is in the end of March.
Congratulations to Joe Berg, Howard's son – and Brittany and the upcoming baby! There was a baby shower for baby and Linda Berg attended.
Congratulations to Janet B. my sister on the birth of a new great grandbaby boy! Quisha is mom, And the baby has a big sister at home.
Recently, I went to a birthday party for my favorite twins, Seth and Jonathan Siewing. Congrats to them and all March birthdays and anniversaries.
In the Whitewater area, most ranchers are calving. Sometimes poor baby calves get frozen ears. A group in Whitewater are making calf ear muffs for calves. Muffs are made out of silk stockings! How practical, creative, and cute idea; a real invention!
In 1950 or thereabouts it was below zero with 3 feet of blowing snow; the school did not have indoor plumbing, just an outhouse. My sister Janet went out alone, and a cold wind was blowing, high drifts of snow. It caused Janet to go the wrong way and get lost in the blinding snow of the blizzard! She prayed and finally she saw the elevator. By then a search party came up to look for her. She was saved from freezing to death! Thank God!
Take care, as always,
Helen
