Deputy Morgan joins PCSO

The Phillips County Sheriff's Office recently welcomed their newest sheriff's deputy to the fold as Johnny Morgan, who grew up in Busby, Mont., joins the force.

Dept. Morgan, the son of Renee Hartman and George Hodges who run the Custer's Last Camp C-Store in Busby, is 20-years-old and grew up in Busby, an hour east of Hardin, where he grew up on a cattle ranch. He graduated from Hardin High School in 2016 and then received an AA in criminal justice from Sheridan College in Wyoming.

"Law enforcement is something I have always wanted to be a part of ever since I was a kid," Dept. Morgan said. "A lot of kids want to be firefighters or police officers when they grow up and I have always found it fascinating."

Dept. Morgan said he found the Phillips County Sheriff's Office help wanted advertisement on the State Site and started working here on January 30. Dept. Morgan said he will be going to the Police Academy. He said that he is currently living alone in Malta in a rental house as his girlfriend, Maddie Flann, is in the process of obtaining a degree in environmental science from MSU Bozeman.

Dept. Morgan said that though he hasn't lived in Phillips County long, he said that the area is very similar to where he grew up and he enjoys hunting, fishing, and many outdoor activities and he feels he is adjusting well to his new environment.

"Everything is going really good," he said. "There is a lot to learn, but I am a fast learner. I learned a lot of this work in Wyoming, but some of it is different here. I am really easy to get along with and I love meeting new people so if you see me, say 'hello'."
