One Nation, Under God
Clinton Grant Able, of Malta, Mont., passed away on November 28th, 2018 in Great Falls, Mont. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. at the Malta VFW Club on Friday, December 7th, 2018.
Clint was born in Berthold, N.D. to Joseph E. and Emely E. Able on November 5, 1935. He attended school in Berthold, N.D. and later in Milltown, Wis. Clint served in the military in 1956-58 as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. He worked as a master mechanic most of his life, finally building his own shop in Malta. Clint was the mechanic people turned to when they didn't have an answer. Typically townspeople said, "Take it to Clint Able, he can fix it." He was also an inventor. If something didn't work, he created a new tool or mechanical system to address the problem, a new wood splitter, or a new tool, he would create it. He was highly regarded in his community and loved Montana and his friends there. He had a good sense of humor and was a true storyteller.
Clint was preceded in death by the love of his life Violet Able, Ione Shermer, and Mary Ereaux, his brother Donald J. Peterson and sister-in-law Lucile Peterson, his sons, Joe Sandgren Able, and Clint Able Jr., and grandson Brent Carlson.
Clint is survived by his sister, Trudee E. Able-Hoefler, (Ulli Hoefler) his daughters, Cindy Able Stevens, (David Stevens) Jody Able Simanton, (Spencer Simanton) and Sherry Del Able Carlson (Chris Dagel), step-son John Arnold, by grandchildren Petrina, Cassandra and Robert Arnold, Seth Able, Justina Shape Holman, Colt Shape, Emily and Molly Stevens-Norby, Amanda, Heather (Casey Clark) and Matthew Carlson, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and his childhood friends, Loren Munson and Jerome Depute as well as his many wonderful friends of Malta.
Memorials may go to Clint's family to defray funeral costs.
We thank the many friends who gave Clint critical assistance in his last years; Ed, Terri and Adrianna Bibeau, Chris Sandvik, (nephew), his loving friends who stopped by so often to spend time with him, the many nurses and home health care workers who aided him and his friend and Doctor, Edwin Medina who was always be there for him. Thank you all.
