One Nation, Under God
Saco's 5th annual Scavenger Hunt, open to children in grades six through 12, will be held the first week of November and teamwork will be of the highest essence for the winning teams.
"This is a chance to work with someone you may not always work with," event organizer Heidi Pippin said. "Younger kids will be placed with older kids. Remember, not everyone is athletic, not everyone is a puzzle solver. This is a time to work together. If a teammate is left behind or comes back and says they cannot find their team, teams will be disqualified as a whole. This is a 'no bully event'."
The event is sponsored by Pippin DJ and Karaoke and Pip's Diner and this year's theme is a "True Scavenger Hunt." Pippin said eight years ago, at the Saco Elementary School Halloween Party, organizers realized the older students in school also needed something fun to do and the Saco Scavenger Hunt was born.
The event begins on Monday, November 5, and will start at 6 p.m. and run until 9 p.m. Random teams of three will be drawn from all the contestants and the hunt will start and finish at Pip's Diner, 207 Taylor Street in Saco. The top three finishing teams will win prizes with first place receiving an Amazon Echo; second place earns wireless headphones, and third place goes home with a gift certificate to Pip's Diner.
