One Nation, Under God
It was with great excitement that Dodson Mayor Terri Cole announced that a road in town is being transformed from broken shards of pavement to brand new pavement last week.
"Rocky Mummey from Malta and his crew are paving that street from the Lutheran Church to the intersection by the Catholic Church.," she said. "Your car will no longer be shaken to bits every time you drive down it! Be sure to drive slow through the work area."
Mayor Cole said the project, with a price tag of $30,000, is being funded by Community Development Block Grant Funds left over from the 1980s as well as monies from the Town of Dodson's gas and oil revenue delivered by the State of Montana.
"We have been working on getting this project financed for at least the last three years," she added.
Mayor Cole said that last winter, the Town of Dodson had several water line breaks including a major leak near the road where a large chunk of asphalt had to be removed to work on the water problems. The section of road is also one of the most traveled in town and she said the town's people are happy to see the problem is rectified.
"The reaction has all been very positive and thank you to everyone for their patience," she said.
Most of the roads in Dodson are paved in town with a major exception being Barrett Avenue (the turn-off at the Cowboy Bar) which cannot be paved because of poor soil quality and the high-water table in that area. Mayor Cole said the road work was started by Rocky Mummey and his crew last Wednesday and added the project would likely be completed this week.
"We appreciate Rocky and his crew because they do a wonderful job," Mayor Cole concluded.
