One Nation, Under God
Talk about a lousy lunch.
Although I generally eat my lunch of yogurt, trail mix, beef sticks and cheese together, it’s not every day that I combine it all into one concoction. Friday, dear readers, was that day. With Saco Fun Days, The Milk River Wagon Train and Labor Day all occurring last week, I took Wednesday and Thursday off knowing that Friday through Monday was to be momentous. Roundabout noon, out came the sack lunch and I quickly added a cup of peach yogurt to my trail mix, making sure to remove the cheese from the concoction before I did so.
Cheese out…meat sticks still in. Let me tell you, and no poetic license is at play, the first bite into this “peach treat” was anything but sweet. The sensation of eating a meat stick when you don’t expect it is sort of like taking a drink of water only to find out it is 7-Up. Kind of. It is also like the sensation of jamming your index finger into your eye or biting your tongue. No fun.
Have faith that I will try and pay more attention to what I am doing today and the rest of the weekend. If Tuesday rolls around and you don’t see your neighborhood reporter at the office, assume that I did not heed my own advice and failed to pay attention, and I am now roaming around Canada, still looking for Saco.
Thanks for reading and aloha.
