Dingers REPEAT!!!

The Dingers won their second consecutive Malta Parks and Recreation Co-Ed Softball League Title on Tuesday, August 14, as the team defeated the Lucky Bullet 99 Problems But a Pitch Ain't One squad in the championship game at the Trafton Softball Field.

"They all did well," Dingers Team Captain Ray Harms told the PCN.

His oldest son Noah Harms, who set the batting lineup that night also caught up with the PCN.

"It was a fun game," N. Harms said. "We just had to stay positive and know that our bats would come alive at some point and they did, which provided the key spark at the end."

99 Problems scored first as Cassie Pratt touched home plate in the first inning.

The Dingers would be quick to respond as Jerey McEwen drove home Jake Handley on a single RBI. The Dingers would respond with a total of four runs in the bottom of the first.

In the third inning Bobbi Knudsen scored an RBI for 99 Problems. The score was 4-2 Dingers

In the top of the fourth inning Kyle Boos hit a line drive solo home run over the left field fence for 99 Problems. 4-3 Dingers.

Mitch Demarais of 99 Problems hit a triple RBI, tying the game 4-4 in the top of the fourth. But 99 Problems was done as they would score six more runs in the inning. The score at the middle of the fourth was 9-4, 99 Problems.

Eva Harms of the Dingers would help spark the team with a two RBI single, driving home Tyanna Dunbar and Chris Simanton in the bottom of the fifth. The score was 8-6 99 Problems.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Dingers put two runners in scoring position with no outs. Ann Harms would then single, scoring Amber Harms from third. Ray Harms would be walked, loading the bases. Tyanna Dunbar would take an optional walk, scoring Jerey McEwen from third. 9-8 99 Problems.

Later that inning Chris Simanton would deliver a backbreaking line drive that would score two runs giving the Dingers a 10-9 lead. The Dingers would win 12-9.

The championship game capped off a two-day, eight team single elimination tournament that started on Monday, August 13.

In the opening round the Dingers defeated Independence 11-10 and then took out the Crusty Sox 27-7 in the semi-final round.

The runner up team 99 Problems defeated Lucky Joe's 21-11 in the opening round and then defeated the 2017 runner up Oh My Quads team 11-10.

Oh My Quads defeated Bat Intentions 18-6 in the opening round, while on the other side of the bracket Crusty Sox defeated Young's Floor Covering 17-7.

The season marked the third season of the Malta Parks and Recreation Co-Ed Softball League.
