One Nation, Under God
The E-waste collection event held in Malta on Saturday, August 4, was a huge success.
According to Kolbi Fox, owner of Yellowstone E-Waste Solutions, the event totaled 5,363 pounds. She stated that this is a good number for a town the size of Malta. Terri Skiff of The First State Bank was pleased with the turnout and impressed with what can be donated. The residents of Phillips County recycled over 2 and a half tons that would have been taken to the County or City dump or landfill.
The event was spearheaded and organized by The First State Bank of Malta. The Malta Chamber and the Hi-Line Technology Committee helped with promoting and advertising. Ezzie's wholesale provided the location and the use of a forklift. Art's Furniture provided a trailer for collecting items.
A breakdown in pounds of items collected are as follows: 1,796 pounds of PC's, 630 pounds of Flatscreen Monitors, 2,383 pounds of Misc. Electronics and Printers and 554 pounds of Audio/Visual Equipment.
This event will definitely be on the schedule for next summer. Terri Skiff of the First State Bank suggests residents begin saving electronic items now to prevent them going into our local landfill.
