The signs where there

Yes, my boy has glasses.

A few weeks ago we took PJ to an optometrist just to make sure he could see well.

I should have known that he would have to wear glasses at an early age, given that both his mother and father have had glasses in their childhood.

Every year, Susan and I took PJ to the eye doctor but only because we needed glasses.

A year ago, he mentioned that he wanted glasses because he was the only one without them.

His mother was prepared to buy him non-prescription glasses just so that he could have them just like mommy and daddy. But we decided it wouldn't be the worst thing to have him examined.

We found out that his vision was pretty bad. We should have known. The signs were definitely there.

For instance, he had run into the door a couple of times in his life.

Or there would be times when he couldn't find a toy he was looking for though at times the toy would be pretty close to him.

Let's not mention his artwork. No, I didn't expect my son at age two and age three to color inside the lines in his coloring book. Since he has had his glasses, his inside the line coloring has gotten a lot better.

When he first started shooting a basketball in his kiddie hoop, his shot was in line but eventually, his aim got worse and worse. His shot was soo bad, I thought that he was copying me.

Since getting his glasses, he has been so good with them. He doesn't mess with them and keeps them on his head the whole time.

He has been getting a lot of compliments since he started wearing his blue glasses. He chose blue because they look like the blue headband that Leo wears from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle; which is his favorite turtle.

His sense of confidence is higher and his self-esteem is as well. His glasses also give his eyes a big bubbly look; as if he wasn't adorable enough.

I fear that even Lincoln will one day need glasses because everyone else in his family has them.

I am just glad that PJ can see because I can't imagine trying to walk anywhere without my glasses. My vision is bad. I may have to look into laser surgery, though I haven't heard great things about laser surgery.
