One Nation, Under God
A Poemby A. Gordon Johnson
The people gathered to celebrate 100 years
God blessed them daily through toil and tears
Joy was expressed as people sang and prayed
with thanks to God for the Spirit displayed.
Pastors who had served came from far away
to share in the readings and prayers of the day.
Pastor Gronnenberg came from Bozeman we were told
you would never guess that he’s one hundred years old.
A volunteer choir sang a favorite anthem
harmony was splendid with women and men.
“O God Our Help in Ages Pastâ€
was a prayer that His love would eternally last.
One hundred years of ministry served in the North
as traveling preachers did willingly come forth.
People responded and a church was born
the windows from it now the front wall adorn.
The potluck was shared in the Reverend Wick Hall
built in memory of his faithful call.
Whitewater folks joined in the celebration
happy to be part of the commemoration.
So to all who shared in the joy that day
blessings to you, in Christ’s name, I pray.
Let nothing quench the Spirit, or blow out the flame,
remember your calling is to serve in His name.
