NOTICE OF PROPOSED WATER RATE
MODIFICATION AND PUBLIC HEARING
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on June 4, 2018, the Town Council (the “Council”) of the Town of Dodson, Montana (the “Town”), adopted a Resolution of Intention of the Town of Dodson, Montana to Confirm Existing Rates for In-Town Users of the Water System, To Modify the Basis on Which Certain Water Charges are Imposed and to Establish Rates for the Sale of Bulk Water.
The Town does not currently have a rate resolution in place and desires to clarify rates for all users as well as to modify the basis upon which rural users are charged and to establish a charge for bulk water.
The Town charges customers served by the System within Town limits a monthly flat rate of $29.50 (the “In-Town Monthly Charge”). The In-Town Monthly Charge is hereby ratified and confirmed.
The Town currently charges customers served by the System outside of Town limits a monthly flat rate of $37.50. Effective as of the August 2018 billing, the Town proposes to modify the charge to customers served by the System outside of Town limits to provide for (i) a monthly flat rate of $37.50, which includes the use of 4,000 gallons of water per month (the “Proposed Rural Base Rate”), plus (ii) a monthly usage charge of $3.00 per 1,000 gallons or portion thereof used per connection in excess of the 4,000 gallons of water per month included in the Proposed Rural Base Rate (the “Proposed Usage Charge”). The proposed “Rural User Monthly Charge” is the sum of the Proposed Rural Base Rate plus the Proposed Usage Charge.
For a user of the System located outside of Town limits using 10,000 gallons of water a month, the proposed Rural User Monthly Charge represents an increase of approximately 48% over the current monthly charge.
The Town also intends to establish a bulk water rate of $5.00 per 1,000 gallons or portion thereof to purchasers of bulk water.
A public hearing on the proposed rate increase will be held on July 2, 2018, commencing at 6:30 p.m. at the Catholic Hall in Dodson, Montana.
Further information about the proposed rate increase may be obtained by contacting Ms. Terri Cole, Mayor, Town of Dodson, P.O. Box 98, Dodson, Montana 59524, phone: (406) 383-4492.
Done by Order of the Council of the Town of Dodson, Montana, this 4th day of June, 2018.
